Why This Training Matters

Effective January 1, 2026, Maryland House Bill 1547 requires every cosmetologist and barber in the state to complete a one-hour domestic violence awareness training as a condition of licensure. Beauty professionals see their clients regularly, often in private settings where trust is built over time. This puts you in a unique position to recognize warning signs that others may never see.

This training was developed by a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor to give you the knowledge and confidence to recognize the signs of domestic violence and connect your clients with life-saving resources — while staying within your professional boundaries.
